Pakherpora, Aug 24: Renowned writer, poet, and thinker Dr. Satish Vimal has been conferred with the prestigious Khillat-e-Balkhi (Balkhi Memorial Award) 2025, the annual honour instituted by Nowsoz People’s Foundation at Pakherpora.
The award, named after the revered Sufi saint Sultan Ali Aali Balkhi whose shrine is situated at Pakherpora, is conferred each year upon an eminent personality for exemplary contributions in the field of Sufi-Rishi studies and intellectual traditions.
Dr. Vimal was honoured for his extensive research-oriented works and his remarkable contribution to the preservation and promotion of Kashmir’s rich spiritual and literary heritage. Announcing the award, President of the People’s Foundation, G.M. Nousoze, said the jury unanimously selected Dr. Vimal in recognition of his significant and unparalleled literary contributions.
The award ceremony witnessed the presence of distinguished scholars, intellectuals, senior citizens, and religious personalities from across the Valley, who hailed the conferment as a fitting tribute to Dr. Vimal’s enduring scholarship and devotion to the spiritual traditions of Kashmir.
