Thirteen-year-old Ahmed Taha Masoody from Srinagar has once again made Jammu and Kashmir proud by winning two gold medals at the 13th National Pencak Silat Championship 2025 in Koppal, Karnataka, held from September 26 to 28. Competing against 1,500 athletes from across India, Taha excelled in both the Tunggal and Solo events.
This achievement makes him a 14-time national champion, securing consecutive golds for six years. His consistency at just 13 highlights his extraordinary talent, dedication, and discipline, balancing rigorous training with studies.
Taha’s mentor, Mr. Mohd. Iqbal, Chief Coach of India, has guided young athletes for over 14 years and played a pivotal role in promoting Pencak Silat at national platforms, including the Beach Games, National Games, Khelo India Games, and soon the Asian Youth Games in Bahrain.
Over six years, Taha has amassed 36 medals at District, UT, National, and International levels—33 Gold, 1 Silver, and 2 Bronze—demonstrating his dominance in martial arts. His ultimate dream is to win Olympic gold for India, which he pursues through disciplined training, fitness, and diet.
