Javid Tenga-led group sweeps KCCI elections by 8 votes

Elections held under supervision of the District Administration Srinagar, recorded high turnout, reflecting strong interest of fraternity

Javid Ahmad Tenga-led group has swept the closely contested elections of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), securing a clear majority in the 21-member executive committee. The victory further strengthens Tenga’s position in Kashmir’s premier trade body at a time when the region’s business sector faces major economic challenges.

According to official results released by the Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS), Javid Ahmad Tenga topped the list with 464 votes, followed by Ashiq Hussain Shangloo (457) and Umer Nazir Tibetbaqal (452). The Tenga panel dominated the results, with most of its candidates figuring in the top ranks.

Other prominent winners from the group included Faiz Ahmad Bakshi (445), Fayaz Ahmad Punjabi (443), Altaf Ahmad Tramboo (430), and Ghulam Nabi Bhat (429). Farooq Ahmad Kuttoo (423), Showkat Ahmad Pakhtoon (422), Amir Manzoor Guna (421), and Mohammad Ibrahim Siah (421) also secured comfortable victories.

Those making it through tighter margins included Muzaffar Majid Jan (416), Irfaan Ahmad Gujuu (403), Mohammad Latief Bhat (402), Afaq Sarwar Malik (398), Tariq Ahmad Dar (398), Zubair Mahajan (396), Abid Hussain Pandith (368), Touseef Ahmad Bhat (366), and Akib Chaya (350).

Candidates who did not make it to the executive body included Mushtaq Ahmad Beigh (307), Manzoor Ahmad Pakhtoon (241), Sheikh Feroz Ahmad Sidiq (182), Abdul Wahid Malik (158), Mohmad Akram Siah (131), Adil Hussain (119), Majid Aslam Wafai (99), Syed Ehsan Javaid (96), and Sheikh Suhail Ahmad (28).

The elections, held under the supervision of the District Administration Srinagar, recorded a high turnout, reflecting the strong interest of the Valley’s business fraternity. With the new executive committee in place, the next phase will involve electing office-bearers, including the President, Vice Presidents, Secretary General, Joint Secretary, and Treasurer.
