Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the NDTV World Summit 2025 in New Delhi, said that India no longer remains silent after terrorist attacks but responds decisively through surgical strikes, air strikes, and operations like Sindoor.

Recalling the pre-2014 period, the Prime Minister said that concerns over terrorism and the spread of sleeper cells were rampant. He emphasized that today, India responds to every act of terror with determination and strength.

Highlighting the success against Maoist and Naxalite violence, Shri Modi described Maoist terrorism as a grave injustice and a sin against the nation’s youth. He said that when his government took office, more than 125 districts were affected by Maoist terrorism, but that number has now reduced to just 11, with only three being severely affected.

The Prime Minister informed that thousands of Naxalites have surrendered in recent years, including 303 who laid down arms in the last 75 hours alone—many of them carrying heavy bounties. He added that these former insurgents are now returning to the mainstream and placing their faith in the Constitution of India.

Reflecting on the transformation of regions once dominated by violence, Shri Modi noted that places like Bastar, once known as Naxal strongholds, are now hosting events like the Bastar Olympics—symbols of peace and progress.

He assured the nation that the day is not far when India will be completely free from Naxalism and Maoist terrorism.
