Srinagar Police Promote Sports to Keep Youth Away from Drugs

SSP Srinagar, Dr. Sundeep Chakarvarti, emphasized the police’s commitment to keeping youth away from drugs during the Grand Finale of the U-20 Srinagar Police Football Tournament 2025, held at the Synthetic Turf, TRC Srinagar.

In an exciting final, KFA Bemina defeated Nowgam Youth FC 3–1 to claim the championship. Speaking at the event, Dr. Chakarvarti highlighted the role of sports and community engagement in channeling young people’s energy positively. “Sports, education, and active participation in community initiatives are key to preventing addiction,” he said.

The SSP urged youth to use their talent meaningfully and assured that police support is available for those needing guidance. He also called on parents, teachers, and civil society to join hands in combating drug abuse.

Under the “Drug-Free Srinagar” initiative, the police have organized multiple sports tournaments and awareness drives, combining prevention, enforcement, and rehabilitation efforts.
