Mumbai: Veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra passed away at the age of 89 after a long illness, sending shockwaves through the film industry and fans.
He was recently shifted home from Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital after recovering, but his health suddenly deteriorated and he could not survive.
Dharmendra was one of the most successful actors in Indian cinema, whose film career spanned six decades and he worked in more than three hundred films.
He was also awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2012. He would have turned 90 on December 8.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed grief over his death.
