Awantipora, Nov 24: The CIED IUST Foundation hosted a high profile delegation from the Small Industries Development Bank of India at the Islamic University of Science and Technology’s Innovation Campus on Monday, marking a significant step toward strengthening the region’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
The delegation was headed by Shri Manoj Mittal, Chairman and Managing Director of SIDBI, accompanied by senior officials Shri Sudatta Mandal, Shri Balbir Singh, Shri Sunil S and RXIL Managing Director and CEO Mr. Ketan Gaikwad. The team interacted with participants of two major initiatives being run under the CIED IUST Foundation — the STEM (Skill to Enterprise Model) programme and the Executive Development Programme in Transformational Leadership for micro and small enterprises.
IUST Vice Chancellor Prof. Shakil A Romshoo, Registrar Prof. Abdul Wahid, Dean Academic Affairs Prof. A H Moon and CEO CIED IUST Foundation Prof. Parvez A Mir welcomed the delegation and engaged in wide ranging discussions on fostering innovation. Prof. Romshoo underlined the crucial role universities play in shaping regional innovation landscapes and reaffirmed IUST’s commitment to entrepreneurship through the establishment of CIED as a dedicated Section 8 company.
During the interaction, Shri Mittal introduced SIDBI’s support frameworks for budding entrepreneurs and explored potential opportunities with programme participants. The delegation also held discussions with members of the Cricket Bat Manufacturers Association of Kashmir, CII Kashmir and a group of beekeepers.
SIDBI used the occasion to launch new initiatives in collaboration with SPVLG Artisans Foundation and the Jammu and Kashmir Association of Social Workers. An MoU was also signed with the Industrial Association Rangreth to strengthen future cooperation.
Earlier, Prof. Parvez A Mir outlined the achievements of the STEM programme, while Prof. Moon presented an overview of the CIED IUST Foundation’s trajectory and upcoming collaborative avenues. Certificates were later awarded to participants of both STEM and EDP programmes.
Dr. Sajaad Ahmed Lone, Coordinator TBIC, delivered the vote of thanks, and Dr. Hajra Manzoor from the Department of Management Studies conducted the proceedings.
