Jammu, December 20: Ishaq Ahmad clinched the prestigious Rustam e Jammu and Kashmir title at the International Kushti Dangal held at MA Stadium, Jammu. Aamir Khan secured the runner up position, while Diler Khan and Sadaq Gajansoo followed.
Minister for Youth Services and Sports Satish Sharma, who attended the closing ceremony, said Jammu and Kashmir is emerging as a hub of sporting activities due to improved infrastructure and rising youth participation. He felicitated the winners and participants for their performances.
In other bouts, Dinesh Dankar defeated Tamarlan of Russia, Balu Bodake of Maharashtra beat Khetag from Russia, and Tedo of Georgia defeated Bania Min of Jammu. Hamid from Iran defeated Lucky Kohli of Punjab, Nadeem from Doda defeated Irfan of Iran, while Arjun from Jammu defeated Mohammad from Iran.
The championship saw participation of wrestlers from India and abroad, highlighting the growing prominence of traditional sports in Jammu and Kashmir.
