Amid growing unrest in Iran, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi spoke to Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar over the phone. Jaishankar told X that the conversation discussed the changing situation in Iran and its surroundings.
The call came at a time when the death toll during the ongoing anti-government protests in Iran has reached 2,500. In view of this situation, the Indian Embassy has instructed all Indian citizens, students, pilgrims, businessmen and tourists in Iran to leave the country through available means, including commercial flights.
The political crisis in Iran has intensified, as protests against the Khamenei regime over double-digit inflation and the continued decline of the Iranian currency have entered their 20th day. The situation has worsened with bloody clashes in 280 locations across the country, with the death toll rising to 2,500.

Meanwhile, a large procession and public gathering in support of Iran, the Velayat-e-Faqih regime, and Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei was held in Kargil on Wednesday. The event was organized by the Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) after the noon prayers.
