Jammu and Kashmir could soon witness a major economic transformation, with the Omar Abdullah led government unveiling an ambitious roadmap to generate 50,000 private sector jobs over the next four years. Senior leader Satish Sharma on Thursday declared that the administration is moving aggressively to revive the economy and unlock large scale employment opportunities for the youth.
Speaking to reporters outside the Assembly in Jammu, Sharma asserted that the government is determined to reshape the Union Territory’s business landscape. He emphasized that a robust investment climate and a stronger business ecosystem are being developed to attract major national and international players.
In a bold announcement, Sharma revealed that efforts are underway to bring global technology giants such as Google and Microsoft to Jammu and Kashmir. The move, if realized, could dramatically expand job avenues for local youth and position the region as an emerging technology hub.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to daily wagers, Sharma said their regularization remains a top priority. He assured that the long pending issue would be resolved within one year, adding that concrete policy measures are currently being finalized to address their demands once and for all.
Sharma also took aim at the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board for charging examination fees from unemployed aspirants, calling the practice an added burden on struggling youth. He said the government is reviewing the matter and exploring options to ease the financial pressure on candidates seeking government jobs.
With promises of tech investments, mass employment generation, and relief for job aspirants, the government has signaled what could be one of the most significant employment drives in Jammu and Kashmir’s recent history.
