In a sweeping, life saving decision taken immediately after shifting to Seva Teerth, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the launch of PM RAHAT, Road Accident Victim Hospitalization and Assured Treatment Scheme, guaranteeing seven days of cashless treatment for road accident victims across India.
Under the scheme, every eligible victim will receive cashless treatment up to ₹1.5 lakh for seven days from the date of the accident. Victims, Rah Veer Good Samaritans, or any bystander can dial 112 for instant ambulance support and details of the nearest designated hospital, ensuring treatment within the crucial Golden Hour when nearly 50 percent of deaths can be prevented.
Backed by a powerful digital integration of the eDAR platform of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the TMS 2.0 system of the National Health Authority, the scheme ensures seamless coordination from accident reporting to hospital payment. Hospitals will be reimbursed within 10 days through the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund, covering insured, uninsured and hit and run cases.
With district level grievance redressal and strict police authentication timelines, PM RAHAT sends out a clear message: no accident victim in India will be denied life saving treatment due to lack of money.
