Political leadership across the country, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, paid tribute to the 40 CRPF personnel martyred in the 2019 Pulwama terrorist attack on their seventh death anniversary and said that their sacrifice will always remain a beacon of light for the nation.
The Prime Minister said in his message that the courage and determination of the martyrs inspires every Indian. The Vice President said that their great sacrifice will always be preserved in the national memory. Home Minister Amit Shah, while reiterating the resolve to completely eradicate terrorism, said that the sacrifices of the martyrs will never be forgotten.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said the nation stands with the families of the martyrs, while External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar reiterated the commitment to continue the zero tolerance policy against cross-border terrorism. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said the martyrs’ unparalleled bravery and selfless service to the motherland will always inspire every citizen.
A brief but dignified ceremony was held at the Martyrs Memorial of 185 Battalion Central Reserve Police Force, Lethpora to mark the seventh anniversary of the Pulwama attack. The ceremony was attended by DG CRPF Gyanendra Pratap Singh, other senior officers and representatives of the Army, BSF, ITBP, SSB, Jammu and Kashmir Police and local administration.
Floral tributes were laid in memory of the martyrs, a salute was offered and a minute of silence was observed. Later, a traditional blood donation camp was organized by the CRPF in which officers and jawans participated enthusiastically and donated more than 100 units of blood, which was provided to SMHS Hospital.
