J&K Govt Initiates Steps to Establish Artificial Intelligence Mission

JAMMU, March 5: The Jammu and Kashmir government has initiated steps to establish the Jammu & Kashmir Artificial Intelligence Mission (JK-AIM) to promote the use of Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies in governance across the Union Territory.

The decision was discussed at a meeting chaired by Dr. Piyush Singla, Administrative Secretary of the Information Technology Department, where officials deliberated on creating an institutional framework to enable AI-based solutions in government functioning and public service delivery.

The proposed mission aims to support AI tools such as intelligent chatbots, automated grievance systems, multilingual communication platforms, predictive analytics and AI-enabled cybersecurity solutions. It will also encourage collaboration with research institutions, startups and technology partners to drive innovation.

JK-AIM will function under the IT Department with a Mission Steering Committee for strategic oversight and a Technical Wing for implementation. Officials have been directed to prepare a detailed concept note and implementation framework for further consideration.

The meeting was attended by CEO JaKeGA Mahima Madaan, Deputy Secretary IT Rachna Sharma and Senior Consultant SeMT Puneet Kant.
