The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation has strongly condemned the continued closure of the blessed Al Aqsa Mosque by the Israeli occupation authorities, describing the measure as a grave violation of the sanctity of Islamic holy sites and a direct infringement on the fundamental right to freedom of worship.

In a statement issued from its General Secretariat, the organization expressed deep concern over the prevention of worshippers from reaching the sacred mosque for the eighth consecutive day. The OIC said the restrictions not only desecrate one of Islam’s most revered sanctuaries but also deeply wound the religious sentiments of millions of Muslims around the world.

The Secretariat stressed that the continued targeting of the holy compound in occupied Jerusalem represents a dangerous escalation and a deliberate provocation against the Muslim Ummah. It emphasized that Al Aqsa Mosque holds a profound spiritual significance in Islam as the first Qibla and the third holiest sanctuary, making any restriction on access to it a matter of serious concern for the entire Muslim world.

Warning of the broader consequences of such actions, the OIC said the persistence of these systematic violations and aggressive policies against the city of Jerusalem and its sacred sites risks intensifying tensions and fueling further instability across the region.

The organization called on the international community to urgently intervene to halt these violations and ensure the protection of Islamic holy places, while guaranteeing the right of Palestinian worshippers to freely access and pray at Al Aqsa Mosque without obstruction.
