New Delhi/Hussain Hassan Mirza, the UAE’s first ambassador to India, has said that the UAE is not interested in getting involved in the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel, nor will it allow its territory to be used as a launching pad for attacks by either side.
In a TV interview, Mirza said that to be honest, we do not understand why we should get involved in this matter, because there is no reason for the UAE to get involved in this conflict.
He said that Abu Dhabi is located in a sensitive geopolitical location. On the one hand, it is a neighbor of Iran and on the other hand, it is also a partner of Israel under the Abraham Accords.
According to Mirza, this status makes the UAE important and it can play a role in the negotiations between the two countries.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s relations with the Gulf leadership, he said that Modi is not only respected by the Gulf leaders but also by the people and business circles of the region and this trust extends to both sides of the current conflict.
He said that if Prime Minister Modi makes just one phone call to the leaders of Iran and Israel, this problem can be solved. One phone call can be enough to end this conflict.
Mirza said that the reason for this confidence is that both sides, whom he described as belligerents, are currently fighting a war that he says is being fought on our soil.
He said that both are fighting each other on our soil and this is unacceptable.
Mirza clarified that he is not a military expert, but according to his estimates, the reports about the losses incurred so far are correct.
Meanwhile, there has been no let-up in the war between Iran and Israel. Despite the change in leadership of Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, the fighting continues. On Monday, the Israeli army carried out fresh attacks on central Iran and also targeted Hezbollah structures in Beirut.
The humanitarian losses of the war are also constantly increasing. According to Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations, the number of civilian deaths has reached 1,332, while thousands of people have been injured. The United States has also confirmed that another of its soldiers has died during treatment, bringing the number of American soldiers who have died to seven.
