Doda/Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia on Tuesday met the family of detained Doda MLA Mehraj Malik and said that voices raising issues of justice and public welfare are being suppressed in the country.
Talking to reporters after meeting the family, Sisodia said that leaders who raise questions related to public issues and governance are facing legal action. He said that people like Sonam Wangchuck, Sanjay Singh, Satyendra Jain, Mehraj Malik and Arvind Kejriwal have raised issues of public interest.
Sisodia said that “the voices of reason and truth are being suppressed and those who speak of justice and truth are being put in jail.”
He claimed that Mehraj Malik has been imprisoned for speaking out for public welfare demands, better schools and hospitals. According to him, this is a struggle against dictatorship which has to continue.
Sisodia expressed hope that Mehraj Malik will soon be released with honor and the allegations against him will not be proven.
He also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s policies, saying that the country is going through difficult times due to the decisions of the central government.
It should be noted that Aam Aadmi Party MLA Mehraj Malik is currently in custody in connection with a case registered by the authorities.
