Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday handed over appointment letters to the next of kin of 50 terror victims under the Compassionate Appointment Rules at Lok Bhavan Auditorium in Srinagar.

Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor termed the initiative a form of “sharansthli (support)” aimed at helping affected families rebuild their lives through employment opportunities. He said many families had been waiting for a long time and the administration is committed to providing them support and dignity.

The LG also conveyed Eid greetings to the families and described the appointment letters as a special Eid gift. He said the letters symbolize justice, recognition and a new beginning for families who have suffered due to terrorism.

Highlighting the efforts of the administration, he said more than 400 families of terror victims have already been provided government jobs under the compassionate appointment scheme. He added that the administration is ensuring coordination between the police and civil administration so that all genuine cases are addressed.

Referring to a Kashmiri saying, the Lieutenant Governor said justice is not merely words on paper but a light that dispels darkness in the hearts and brings a ray of hope. He said families who had long awaited government support are now being recognized and supported by the administration.

Acknowledging the suffering of the victims’ families, the LG said terrorism since the 1990s has taken away dreams and stability from thousands of families in Jammu and Kashmir. He said the administration is committed to rebuilding their lives and ensuring justice for those affected.

The Lieutenant Governor also said he has personally interacted with several terror victim families and ensured their reintegration. He described the initiative as a matter of justice rather than charity and said strict action will continue against those responsible for acts of terrorism.

Highlighting youth achievements, he said several young people from the Union Territory have recently been selected in the Union Public Service Commission and the region has also achieved success in the Ranji Trophy, reflecting the positive transformation taking place in society.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to security, the Lieutenant Governor said the administration will continue to act firmly against elements promoting terrorism. He added that the efforts are in line with the principle of zero tolerance towards terrorism promoted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
