On the first anniversary of the Pahalgam terror attack, tributes are being paid to the martyrs across the country and a renewed resolve is being expressed with an atmosphere of mourning. 26 innocent people were killed in this attack on April 22, 2025, which is considered one of the worst terrorist incidents in the country.
The Indian Army, recalling its operation “Operation Sindoor” on this occasion, said that the hideouts of the militants were targeted in this high-speed operation and according to the official statement, more than 100 terrorists were killed. The forces, reiterating their zero tolerance policy against terrorism, said that justice has been served.
The affected families are still in grief, but their morale is high. Pragati Jagdale, wife of the late Santosh Jagdale, recalling the incident, said that the terrorists entered the village and opened fire indiscriminately. She demanded that the government strengthen the army further to prevent such incidents in the future.
Meanwhile, eyewitness to the attack, Ishaania Dwivedi, described the incident as extremely brutal and said that it was a terrorist attack against humanity, the memory of which still haunts us.
The memorial in Pahalgam keeps the sacrifice of these 26 lives alive, while the limited but continuous influx of tourists indicates that life goes on despite the fear. Efforts are underway to revive tourism and the local economy in Kashmir.
Although tight security arrangements and reduced tourist activities still reflect the effects of the tragedy, Pahalgam is trying to regain its identity as a major tourist center.
The message of this anniversary for the nation is clear that the pain remains, but the resolve against terrorism has become stronger than ever.
On the first anniversary of the Halgam terrorist attack, students and local residents held rallies, demonstrations and prayer services in areas adjacent to the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. The participants condemned terrorism, expressed solidarity with the victims and demanded lasting peace in the region.
According to details, more than 2,000 students took part in an anti-terrorism march at various places in Karnah subdivision of north Kashmir, including Hajnar, Kandi and Tithwal. The students raised slogans against terrorism and carried placards with messages in support of the victims and their families.
A government official said that the younger generation is standing firm against violence and believes in a peaceful and developed future.

In their statements, the UK, Argentina, Australia and the EU paid tribute to the victims and said that terrorism is unacceptable in any way. World leaders called for joint efforts for peace and security and increased cooperation against terrorist networks.
