Srinagar, Apr 23: The Jammu and Kashmir Pensioners Welfare Federation and Senior Citizens Civil Society on Wednesday elected Lenin Sampat as its new State President and Gh. Mohi-ud-Din Bhat as State General Secretary.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the working committee and executive body held in Srinagar, which witnessed participation from delegates across various districts of the Kashmir Valley, reflecting unity among pensioners.
The meeting began with a condolence resolution, paying tribute to late leaders Mohd Ashraf Mir and Mohd Ayoub Chirag for their contributions to the federation.
The newly elected president Lenin Sampat assured members of transparent and dedicated functioning, emphasizing efforts to safeguard the interests of pensioners and senior citizens across Jammu and Kashmir.
The federation also put forth several key demands before the government, including enhancement of monthly medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1000, implementation of the 7th Pay Commission benefits, release of pending Dearness Allowance from January 2026, and provision of additional pension benefits for senior citizens aged 65 and above.
Expressing confidence, the federation members while talking with Onlykashkir.in hoped that the government would address these long-pending demands at the earliest.
