Under the banner “Meet the Eminent Writer” the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organized a special and memorable program in honour of renowned writer, poet, translator and broadcaster Dr Satish Vimal at the auditorium of Akashvani Srinagar.
The function was presided over by Padma Shri awardee writer and critic Professor Shafi Shauq. Director General Prasar Bharati and Head of Office Akashvani Srinagar Gurvinder Singh attended the event as the chief guest. Additional Secretary of the Cultural Academy Adeel Saleem, Dr Satish Vimal and English Editor of the Academy Abid Ahmad were also present on the occasion.
The programme commenced with noted singer Munir Ahmad Mir presenting the poetic works of Dr Satish Vimal. Additional Secretary Adeel Saleem delivered the welcome address and highlighted the significance of the event and the literary contributions of the celebrated writer.
During the programme, Dr Ghulam Nabi Haleem presented a paper on the life, personality and literary journey of Dr Satish Vimal, shedding light on his achievements and contribution to literature and broadcasting.
On the occasion, the Cultural Academy felicitated Dr Satish Vimal with a traditional shawl and presented him with a citation in recognition of his services. Head of News, Akashvani Srinagar, Tariq Ahmad Rather also presented a memento to the distinguished literary figure.
Speaking during the event, Dr Satish Vimal shared reflections on his life, literary journey and experiences in the field of literature and broadcasting.
A large number of writers, poets, Journalists, intellectuals and distinguished guests attended the programme.
