Actor Esha Deol is set to explore the horror-comedy genre for the first time with the upcoming film GHUNGHAT. Directed by Rajiv S. Ruia and produced by Bangalore-based producer Devesh Kumar under the banner of Native Cinemas, the film promises a mix of spooky thrills, comedy, emotion, and social messaging.
While Esha has previously appeared in horror films such as Darling and Kucch To Hai, GHUNGHAT marks her first project to blend horror and comedy in a single narrative.
Speaking about the film, Esha said, “GHUNGHAT is a completely new genre for me. I’ve always enjoyed comedy and have done horror before, but this is a unique mix of both. What I loved about the script is that, alongside the fun and spooky elements, it also carries a meaningful message. It’s emotional, entertaining, and very different from anything I’ve done before.”
Set in the mysterious village of Jangipura, GHUNGHAT revolves around the haunting spirit of Bhuri, whose tragic past becomes a terrifying curse for the villagers. The story blends supernatural suspense with humour, romance, fantasy, and emotional drama.
Known for his fantasy and horror entertainers, director Rajiv S. Ruia aims to create a family entertainer that delivers both chills and laughter.
