The Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) has invited filmmakers from India and abroad to submit entries for the first-ever International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir (IFFJK)-2026, scheduled to be held from September 7 to 10 at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar.
According to the DIPR, film submissions opened on July 1 and will continue until July 31, with participation guidelines available on the festival’s official website.
The four-day festival aims to position Jammu and Kashmir as a prominent destination for cinema, cultural exchange and creative collaboration. It is expected to bring together renowned filmmakers, emerging talent, industry professionals, media representatives and film enthusiasts from across the globe.
IFFJK-2026 will feature a mix of competitive and curated categories, including International Competition, Cinema of the World, J&K Select, Bharat Panorama, Documentary/Hybrid, Horror and Short Films, providing filmmakers an opportunity to present their work before an international jury and global audience.
In addition to SKICC, festival screenings and events will be hosted at INOX Multiplex Srinagar, selected venues in Jammu and the Gulmarg Convention Centre.
The inaugural edition is being envisioned as a major cultural initiative to promote Jammu and Kashmir as a hub for filmmaking, creative excellence and international cultural engagement. The festival will also showcase the Union Territory’s rich heritage, scenic landscapes and cultural traditions through cinema while encouraging innovation and recognising outstanding cinematic achievements.
Officials said the event is expected to strengthen cultural dialogue and foster people-to-people connections by bringing together filmmakers and audiences from different countries on a common platform.
DIPR has urged filmmakers, production houses and independent creators from India and overseas to participate in the inaugural edition and help make IFFJK-2026 a global celebration of cinema.
