Srinagar: Srinagar is all set to witness one of its biggest literary celebrations as the Chinar Book Festival 2026 opens from July 18 to 26, bringing together more than 200 publishers and book exhibitors from across India.
Dr. Amit Wanchoo, Chief Convener of the Chinar Book Festival, accompanied by Ms. Shobha Kapoor of the National Book Trust (NBT), briefed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on the preparations for the nine-day event.
The festival will showcase books in English, Urdu, Kashmiri, Hindi, and several other Indian languages. It will also feature literary discussions, author interactions, book launches, children’s programmes, storytelling sessions, workshops, cultural performances, Mushairas, Sufi music, and a wide range of youth engagement activities, making it one of the largest literary and cultural events in Jammu and Kashmir.
