The Jammu and Kashmir Government has sanctioned the construction of two Unity Malls, one each in Srinagar and Jammu, with a total investment of ₹255 crore. The initiative aims to provide a dedicated marketplace for local artisans, handloom weavers, handicraft makers and regional entrepreneurs.
According to an official statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, the malls will showcase traditional crafts, GI-tagged products and other locally made goods, helping artisans gain wider market access while preserving the Union Territory’s rich cultural heritage.
The government said the projects are expected to boost tourism, generate employment and strengthen trade by creating modern commercial spaces for local businesses. The initiative forms part of a broader strategy to promote entrepreneurship and enhance economic opportunities across Jammu and Kashmir.
