The District Administration Rajouri, in collaboration with MY Bharat, organised a District-Level Mega Youth Competition on Friday at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Rajouri, drawing enthusiastic participation from young people across the district in a wide range of creative and literary contests. The event offered a vibrant platform for local talent to showcase their skills under one roof, bringing together students and youth from different corners of Rajouri district for a day of competitive engagement.
Participants took part in a diverse set of events including Debate, Street Play, Painting, Dance, Reel Making, Short Film, Nukkad Natak and Slam Poetry, reflecting the organisers’ effort to accommodate a broad spectrum of artistic and intellectual pursuits rather than limiting the competition to a single discipline. The wide format allowed both performing artists and those inclined toward writing and visual storytelling to find a suitable avenue for expression.
Officials said the winners of the district-level rounds will advance to represent Rajouri at the State-Level Youth Competitions, giving them a chance to showcase their talent before a larger audience and compete alongside participants from other districts of Jammu and Kashmir. The tiered structure of the competition, moving from district to state level, is designed to create a sustained pipeline for identifying promising young talent across the region.
Organisers said the initiative was conceived to identify, nurture and promote youth talent while encouraging participants to contribute to the broader vision of a Viksit Bharat, or Developed India, a theme that has increasingly framed youth-oriented government programmes in recent years. The large turnout at the venue underscored the appetite among young people in Rajouri for structured platforms that combine creative expression with an element of healthy competition.
The collaboration between the district administration and MY Bharat, the Union government’s youth engagement platform, reflects a growing pattern of district-level bodies partnering with national youth initiatives to expand the reach of such competitions beyond urban centres and into smaller towns. Officials indicated that similar events are expected to continue across other districts as part of ongoing efforts to engage the region’s youth population through structured cultural and literary programming ahead of the state-level rounds.
