The University of Kashmir has effected two key administrative changes, appointing a new Chief Coordinator for the National Education Policy Cell and a new Warden for the Ghani Kashmiri Research Scholars Hostel with immediate effect, according to separate orders issued by the university’s administration.
As per an order issued by the University’s Administration Teaching Section, Professor Ajaz Ahmad Dar, a Professor in the Department of Chemistry, has been assigned the additional charge of Chief Coordinator, NEP Cell, in addition to his existing academic duties, until further orders are issued by the competent authority. He replaces Professor Mushtaq Ahmad Siddiqi, Professor and Head of the Department of Management Studies, who has been relieved of the additional charge at his own request, allowing him to focus more fully on his departmental responsibilities.
The NEP Cell has assumed growing significance within the university’s administrative structure in recent years, given the ongoing rollout of the National Education Policy 2020 and the accompanying curriculum and structural reforms that institutions of higher learning across the country, including the University of Kashmir, are required to implement in a phased manner. The appointment of a dedicated coordinator drawn from the Department of Chemistry reflects the university’s continuing effort to ensure smooth coordination of these reforms across its various faculties and departments.
In a separate order, Dr Javeed Ahmad Puju, an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Distance and Online Education, has been entrusted with the additional charge of Warden of the Ghani Kashmiri Research Scholars Hostel, a facility that houses research scholars pursuing doctoral and other advanced programmes at the university. He succeeds Dr Altaf Hussain, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology, who has also been relieved of the additional charge on his own request.
Both appointments have come into effect immediately and will remain in force until further orders, the university said, with the changes expected to ensure administrative continuity in both the NEP Cell and the research scholars’ hostel even as the individuals concerned continue to hold their substantive teaching positions within their respective departments across the university.
