The Bharatiya Janata Party’s Minority Morcha unit in Jammu and Kashmir held a Tricolour rally in Chadoora on Monday, drawing party leaders, office bearers and workers who marched through the town carrying the national flag as part of ongoing Independence Day observances across the Union Territory.
The rally began near Police Station Chadoora and proceeded to conclude at the Receiving Station in Chadoora’s main market, covering a route that took participants through the heart of the town. The event was organised under the leadership of the Minority Morcha’s Jammu and Kashmir unit general secretary, who coordinated the logistics and mobilisation of party workers for the march.
Several senior BJP figures from the Union Territory joined the rally, lending it visibility beyond the local Minority Morcha cadre. Party workers and supporters who took part carried the Tricolour throughout the march, using the occasion to reaffirm their stated commitment to national unity, integrity and progress, themes that have become a recurring feature of BJP-organised events in Kashmir in the lead-up to Independence Day.
Such rallies have increasingly become a visible part of the party’s outreach strategy in the Valley, particularly through its minority wing, which has sought to build grassroots presence in areas of central Kashmir like Budgam district, where Chadoora is located. The Minority Morcha has positioned itself as a vehicle for engaging communities that the party has traditionally found harder to reach in the region, using patriotic and civic-themed events as an entry point for broader political engagement.
The Chadoora rally fits into a wider pattern of Tricolour marches, flag hoisting ceremonies and civic events being organised by various political and administrative bodies across Jammu and Kashmir this month, as the Union Territory gears up for August 15 celebrations. With Srinagar’s own Tiranga Rally scheduled for August 12 and multiple government departments coordinating their own observances, the period leading up to Independence Day has seen a marked increase in organised public events centred on the national flag and patriotic messaging, spanning both governmental and political party initiatives across the Valley.
Party workers at the Chadoora event were seen distributing tricolour flags and badges to onlookers, extending the reach of the march beyond its official participant list and drawing local residents into the observance as it moved through the market area.
