PAMPORE: The complete poetry anthology “Bayaz-e-Wahab Khar”, featuring the authenticated poetic works of renowned Kashmiri Sufi saint and poet Wahab Khar, was formally unveiled on Sunday at a special ceremony held at Wahab Khar Hall in Shar Shali, Pampore.
The event was presided over by noted intellectual and writer Dr Satish Vimal and witnessed the participation of prominent poets, writers, scholars, intellectuals, religious scholars and people from different walks of life.
Among those present were anthology Chief Editor Mushtaque Barq, writer and critic Dr Ghulam Nabi Haleem, editor Fayaz Arif, Professor Javaid Ahmad Dar, noted musician Krishan Ji Langu, and Advocate Ashiq Hussain, besides several other distinguished personalities.
The ceremony also featured a special musical programme in which eminent folk artists performed Sufi compositions, including selected verses of Wahab Khar. Their soulful renditions added a deeply spiritual and cultural dimension to the gathering.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Satish Vimal described the anthology as a well-researched and authentic compilation of Wahab Khar’s poetry. He said the collection brings together the saint-poet’s authenticated compositions with corrected texts following years of painstaking research by a team of experts led by Mushtaque Barq.
Dr Vimal observed that Wahab Khar’s poetry represents an important spiritual and literary legacy of Kashmir, and praised the efforts of the Idara-e-Auqaf Wahab Khar shrine for preserving and promoting the poet’s heritage.
He also appreciated the contribution of Sheikh Waseem of Kitab Mahal towards the quality of the publication and expressed hope that selected compositions of Wahab Khar would be translated into other languages in the near future, enabling his profound spiritual message to reach a wider readership.
