Srinagar: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, along with his father and former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah, visited INOX Srinagar on the second day of the ongoing International Film Festival of Jammu & Kashmir (IFFJK), attending film screenings and industry events that brought together actors, filmmakers and other personalities from the Indian entertainment industry. Besides Advisor to CM Mr. Nasir Sogami, Director, Information and Public Relations, Jammu and Kashmir Ms. Shreya Singhal, were also present on the occasion.
The festival, being held from September 7 to 10 across Jammu and Kashmir, aims to provide a platform for filmmakers and audiences while showcasing Indian and international cinema in the region. INOX Srinagar is one of the festival’s key screening venues.
Actors Pankaj Tripathi and Divyenndu, who are associated with the Mirzapur franchise, were among the prominent film personalities present at INOX Srinagar for the screening of Mirzapur: The Movie.
Speaking about Kashmir, Tripathi said he would like to spend more time in the region and experience it as a resident rather than merely as a visitor.
“I would love to live here as a citizen and would love to explore Kashmir,” Pankaj Tripathi said.
Divyenndu said he would be keen to portray a Kashmiri character if he gets an opportunity to work in the region.
“If I get an opportunity to act in Kashmir, I would love to play the role of a local Kashmiri,” he said.
Playback singer Sunidhi Chauhan and actor Preeti Aly were also present at INOX Srinagar on the second day, adding to the gathering of artists and entertainment industry professionals at the venue.
The second day of IFFJK featured film screenings and industry interactions at venues across Jammu and Kashmir. Filmmaker Sriram Raghavan also conducted a masterclass, while several other established names from the Indian film industry participated in festival programmes.
The festival, being held under the theme “Rang-e-Cinema,” includes screenings, masterclasses, discussions and other industry activities. It seeks to create greater opportunities for filmmakers and audiences to engage with cinema while strengthening Jammu and Kashmir’s connection with the film industry.
The festival will continue until September 10, with screenings and other programmes scheduled across participating venues.
