The Kalam Welfare Society, a body that has worked in the education sector since 2001, has announced the All India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Bright Student Award and Scholarship Exam 2027, aimed at identifying and encouraging talented students from rural and urban regions across the country. The initiative reflects a broader effort to help promising students pursue education in world class institutions and build a foundation for a brighter future.
The scholarship exam is open to students studying in Class IV through Class 12 who are appearing, or have appeared, for their annual examinations during March and April 2027. The test itself will be based on the Mathematics and Science curriculum followed under CBSE, ICSE and various State Boards, comprising 100 multiple choice questions worth four marks each, with no negative marking, a structure designed to reduce exam anxiety while still testing conceptual clarity.
The examination will unfold in two phases. The first, an online round, is scheduled for 27th December 2026 between 11 am and 1 pm, open to students across all eligible classes. The second phase, an All India level offline examination, will be conducted on 11th April 2027, also between 11 am and 1 pm, at centres set up across the country. Organisers have clarified that a dedicated offline centre will be established in any location where 40 or more students register, a provision intended to widen access beyond metropolitan hubs and bring the exam closer to students in smaller towns.
The incentive structure is substantial. The All India topper will receive a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000, followed by Rs 80,000 for the second rank and Rs 70,000 for the third. Ranks four through ten will receive graded cash prizes ranging from Rs 60,000 down to Rs 10,000. The top 100 rankers will additionally receive the Bright Student Award, while every participant is assured a gold medal and a certificate of appreciation, ensuring recognition extends well beyond the podium finishers.
Registration opened on 9th September, with the last date for applications set at 30th November 2026, 5 pm. Interested students or their guardians have been asked to submit their name, father’s name, class, school name and full address via WhatsApp or email to the organisers, a straightforward process meant to keep the registration barrier low for families across the country.
