The Press Information Bureau, Srinagar Region, is organising a media tour for journalists from Srinagar to Chennai from September 13 to 19, 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to widen media outreach and give local journalists exposure to institutions and initiatives outside the Kashmir Valley.
A 13 member delegation comprising journalists from Srinagar along with PIB officials will take part in the tour. Ahead of the delegation’s departure, Director PIB Srinagar, Qazi Salman, briefed the participants on the objectives of the visit, urging them to make meaningful use of the interactions and interviews planned during their time in Chennai. The delegation is being led by Shahid Lone, Field Publicity Officer at CBC Anantnag, who will serve as Conducting Officer for the tour, with Ifham Ul Islam, Information Assistant at PIB Srinagar, also accompanying the group.
The tour is designed to give the visiting journalists firsthand exposure to key Central Government institutions, projects and initiatives based in Chennai, with the aim of deepening their understanding of national level policies and how these are implemented on the ground in different parts of the country. During the visit, the delegation will tour various Central Government establishments and projects in the city and interact with senior officials to better understand their functioning and day to day operations. Addressing the delegation before departure, Qazi Salman congratulated the participants and expressed confidence that the visit would offer valuable opportunities for professional engagement and a better understanding of how Central Government institutions function beyond what journalists typically encounter in their regular regional coverage.
