Security Forces Score Major Success; Search Operation Continues in Forest Area
Srinagar, September 30: Security forces have achieved a significant breakthrough in Jammu and Kashmir by eliminating a top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander, identified in reports as Asif Fouji alias Fauzi Musa, during an encounter in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
According to reports, the encounter erupted in the Palmaiden-Mugpathri forest area of Khansahib after security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of terrorists.
As the forces tightened the cordon and intensified the search, terrorists opened fire, triggering an exchange of gunfire. In the ensuing encounter, security personnel neutralised the senior LeT commander, who had reportedly been on the radar of security agencies for his alleged involvement in multiple terror-related activities across Jammu and Kashmir.
The operation was underway at the time of reporting, with additional forces deployed to secure the area and search for other suspected militants.
