Jammu and Kashmir Police have intensified inspections of businesses that deal in regulated and potentially sensitive materials across several districts. The checks are targeting fertilizer, chemical, pesticide and hardware shops, along with other commercial establishments, to prevent the unauthorised sale or misuse of such items.

In Baramulla district, police inspected hardware shops, pesticide outlets and car dealerships in Pattan, verifying licences, permits and mandatory records. All the inspected establishments were found compliant with the applicable regulations.

In Reasi, police inspected 62 shops dealing in fertilizers, chemicals and other regulated materials, scrutinising stock details and sale registers. Shopkeepers were directed to maintain proper records and to install CCTV cameras. Inspections of medical shops, SIM vendors and online service providers were also reported in the district.

Bandipora Police conducted checks of SIM-card vendors at Ajas and of fertilizer outlets falling under Police Station Aragam and Police Post Sumlar. Businesses were directed to maintain accurate records and to strengthen surveillance at their premises.

In Ramban, police inspected shops dealing in fertilizers, seeds and explosive materials, verifying stocks, licences and other records to prevent the unauthorised sale or diversion of regulated items.

The inspections form part of preventive security measures aimed at strengthening oversight of sensitive commercial supplies and at identifying possible violations before materials can be diverted for unlawful purposes. By examining registers and licences at the retail level, the police seek to close gaps that could otherwise be exploited.

Items such as fertilizers, chemicals and pesticides have legitimate and essential uses in agriculture and industry, and most traders deal in them lawfully. The purpose of the checks is therefore not to burden honest businesses but to ensure that record-keeping is accurate and that stock can be accounted for at any time. Requirements such as sale registers and CCTV coverage help create a trail that allows authorities to trace a sale if a question arises later. SIM vendors are covered by the same logic, since proper verification of customers is central to preventing misuse of mobile connections.

The simultaneous checks across districts in both the Kashmir and Jammu regions show that the exercise is being carried out on a wide scale. Traders are advised to keep their licences current, maintain complete and up-to-date records, and cooperate with inspecting teams. Members of the public are encouraged to inform the police about any suspicious sale or movement of regulated materials in their area, as community vigilance remains an important part of preventive security.
