Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit and Expo 2026 on November 2 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, a four-day event that is set to bring the global clean energy community to the national capital.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Santosh Kumar Sarangi, described the summit as a flagship international platform dedicated to advancing investment, innovation and collaboration across the global renewable energy ecosystem. The event will bring together governments, policymakers, industry leaders, investors, innovators, startups and international institutions, with the aim of accelerating collaboration and the global clean energy transition.
Sarangi said two other major gatherings will be held simultaneously during the summit. These are the 9th Session of the International Solar Alliance Assembly and the 4th International Conference on Green Hydrogen. The presence of the Solar Alliance, an international grouping that promotes solar energy, and of the green hydrogen conference alongside the main summit means that discussions will span some of the most significant areas of the energy transition, from solar deployment to the emerging hydrogen economy.
The Secretary informed that participation is expected from more than 130 countries, a figure that points to the scale of the event and to India’s growing role as a convener in global energy discussions.
India has set ambitious targets for expanding renewable capacity, and it has positioned itself as a major market and manufacturing base for solar and other clean technologies. Hosting an event of this size in New Delhi allows the country to showcase its progress, to attract investment into projects and supply chains, and to build partnerships with other nations pursuing similar goals. The inclusion of startups and innovators in the programme also signals an emphasis on new technology and on ideas that can be scaled.
For states and Union Territories such as Jammu and Kashmir, whose hydropower and solar potential are significant, gatherings of this kind can open doors to investment and to knowledge about best practices. Policymakers and industry representatives from across the country are likely to follow the sessions closely.
The inauguration by the Prime Minister will set the tone for four days of exhibitions, conferences and business meetings. With governments, investors and technology providers present under one roof, the summit is expected to generate announcements and agreements that could influence the direction of renewable energy development in India and beyond.
