Trump's decision on December 6 to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital broke with international consensus and unleashed protests across the Muslim world, prompting a flurry of appeals to the United Nations.
It also called on the UN to "end the Israeli occupation" of Palestine and declared US President Donald Trump's administration liable for "all the consequences of not retracting from this illegal decision".
Hundreds of Palestinians burned US and Israeli flags as well as pictures of Trump in the Gaza Strip, while relatively small clashes erupted near the flashpoint West Bank city of Hebron.
