On the occasion of the 78th International Olympic Day, the Jammu and Kashmir Water Sports Kayaking and Canoeing Association successfully organized a Canoe Marathon and Run for Peace at the Pokhribal Water Sports Club. The event embodied the true spirit of Olympism, uniting athletes and water sports enthusiasts to promote teamwork, endurance, and sportsmanship, while highlighting the region’s immense potential in water sports.
Participants delivered a thrilling, high-energy performance, showcasing remarkable skill, speed, and determination, captivating the audience with their talent and sportsmanlike spirit.
The association expressed heartfelt gratitude to a renowned water sports figure for her unwavering support and invaluable guidance to emerging athletes. Notably, she recently made history by becoming the first Indian woman to serve as a jury member at the Olympics.
Water sports continue to be the most medal-winning discipline in Jammu & Kashmir. Beyond offering strong national and international platforms for talented athletes, the association remains committed to steering the youth of J&K away from the menace of drug abuse by actively engaging them in constructive water sports activities.
The Water Sports Association reaffirmed its dedication to national pride and pledged continued efforts toward the growth, well-being, and success of young athletes across the region.
