Journalist, poet and playwright Fayyaz Dilbar passes away

Journalist, poet and playwright Fayyaz Dilbar passed away on Sunday evening in Srinagar due to a heart attack. He was 68 years old. According to reports, Fayyaz Dilbar had been suffering from chest ailments for some time and suffered a massive heart attack at around 8 pm which proved fatal.

He is survived by his wife Nasreen Mohsin (a renowned painter and printmaker) and a son (an architectural engineer).

Fayyaz Dilbar hailed from Maharajganj, Srinagar. He started his journalistic career with the Srinagar Times and later founded the Kashmir News Bureau (KNB) along with Imdad Saqi in the early 1980s.

He later moved to Delhi in 1988, where he joined the Sunday Observer and later worked in the visual media sector. During his stay in Delhi, he further developed his association with journalism as well as literature, theatre and poetry, leaving behind a memorable legacy as an all-round personality.
