Tehran/March 29: Iran has claimed that it has severely damaged a US E-3 AWACS command and control aircraft during a missile and drone attack on Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia.
According to Iranian media, six ballistic missiles and 29 drones were used in the attack, which targeted US military installations. The released images show the aircraft badly damaged, with its middle section completely damaged while the front and rear sections are said to be partially intact.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that a US MQ-9 drone was also shot down and an F-16 aircraft was targeted in the operation.
The attack came at a time when tensions in the region have entered their second month and retaliation between Iran, the US and Israel are ongoing. According to reports, Yemen’s Houthi rebels have also launched missile attacks on Israel, which is widening the conflict.
On the other hand, there have been reports of explosions and attacks in different parts of Iran, causing loss of life and property. According to Iranian officials, civilian facilities are also being affected by this tension.
There has been no official confirmation or denial of the Iranian claims by the United States or Saudi Arabia, due to which the situation remains unclear.
