Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday described Ayodhya as the “cradle of civilisation” and an “eternal fountainhead of consciousness,” saying the sacred city embodies the spiritual and moral essence that has shaped human civilisation for centuries.
Addressing the 8th Ayodhya Parv at IGNCA, New Delhi, the Lieutenant Governor said invoking Ayodhya is not merely about remembering a place, but about awakening a timeless consciousness rooted in the blessings and ideals of Prabhu Shri Ram.
He said the world today has much to learn from the life and ideals of Lord Ram, particularly his commitment to truth, righteousness, duty, sacrifice and moral rectitude.
“Those who walk the path of truth and dharma ultimately prevail,” Sinha said.
‘Ayodhya is not just a city, but a living idea’
Highlighting the deeper meaning of Ayodhya, the Lieutenant Governor said understanding Ayodhya goes far beyond geography.
“To understand Ayodhya is not to understand a city, but to understand oneself,” he said.
He described Ayodhya as a living consciousness of the present and a moral compass for the future, adding that it is not merely a shrine or a historic destination, but a dynamic source of national inspiration and cultural rootedness.
According to him, Ayodhya inspires people to reconnect with their inner consciousness and reminds society that traditions survive as long as faith and awareness remain alive.
Message of values, balance and rooted progress
Sinha said Ayodhya serves as a reminder that progress should never come at the cost of one’s roots and civilisational values.
“Life is not about speed alone, but also about the right direction,” he said.
In an age of rapid global change, he noted, Ayodhya stands as a guide that teaches balance, moral clarity and spiritual direction. He said the city symbolises values such as duty, dignity, compassion, sacrifice and equilibrium, not merely as ideals to be preached, but as principles to be lived.
‘Leadership means service, not just governance’
Calling Ayodhya a powerful civilisational idea, the Lieutenant Governor said it demonstrates that strength and sensitivity can coexist, and that true leadership is rooted in service rather than authority alone.
He also underlined Ayodhya’s growing relevance in shaping India’s global identity, saying the city is not only sacred in religious terms but also significant as a centre of cultural continuity, economic potential and civilisational confidence.
Ayodhya’s relevance extends beyond India
Sinha said Ayodhya should be projected on the global stage as a civilisational centre where humanity first viewed nature not simply as a resource, but as a living force worthy of reverence.
He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi with rekindling this civilisational consciousness and bringing renewed global attention to Ayodhya’s deeper cultural and spiritual significance.
“The real strength of nations lies in their identity, cultural depth and civilisational roots,” he said, adding that Ayodhya’s significance is not limited to India but resonates globally.
Civilisation is the foundation of future growth
The Lieutenant Governor further said that preserving and presenting civilisational heritage in a contemporary way can make a nation not only culturally richer but also economically stronger.
He called Ayodhya a living example of how civilisation can serve as the bedrock of future possibilities, stressing that its greatest strength lies in its continuity.
“In Ayodhya, the past and the present are not separate. The same traditions, the same faith and the same spiritual resonance continue to flow even today,” he said.
He said this continuity reflects an unbroken stream of consciousness that must be carried forward for generations to come.
