Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz again, less than 24 hours after agreeing to a ceasefire after more than 100 people were killed in Israeli attacks on Lebanon.

Two-week ceasefire announced after 40 days of war

US President Donald Trump has announced a two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran, saying that if safe passage is given to maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, both sides will implement a temporary ceasefire.
Trump said in a social media post that this will be a “bilateral ceasefire” and according to him, the US has achieved its military goals, while the path to a resolution of the conflict is also being paved.

He said that safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be provided for two weeks, which will be made possible by the cooperation of the Iranian armed forces and taking into account the technical limitations.
This development is being described as an important effort to reduce tensions in the Middle East, however, the situation still remains very sensitive.
