Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said women farmers are the backbone of global food security but remain deprived of prosperity. Addressing an IFFCO conference, he urged removal of barriers, better market access, and dedicated credit and technology support for women.
He highlighted 2026 as the International Year of Women Farmers and called for priority in all schemes. Citing progress under programmes like HADP and PM schemes, he said lakhs of women in J&K are benefiting, while encouraging more to register.
Sinha also stressed women-led development, announced a ‘Drug-Free J&K’ campaign from May 3, 2026, and called for stronger institutional support to empower women as farmers and entrepreneurs.
