Srinagar, May 4, 2026: The Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) on Monday executed a proclamation order against an absconding accused, Showkat Ahmad Sheikh alias Showkat Mochi, a resident of Ganai Hamam in Baramulla, in connection with FIR No. 07/2023 registered at Police Station CIK.
The proclamation order was issued by the Court of the Additional Sessions Judge, designated as Special Judge under the NIA Act, Srinagar, under Section 82 of the CrPC after the accused was found evading arrest and deliberately avoiding legal proceedings.
Officials said that despite repeated efforts during the investigation, the accused failed to join the probe, prompting the court to initiate proclamation proceedings and direct him to appear within a specified timeframe.
Acting on the court’s directions, a CIK team carried out the execution of the proclamation order in accordance with legal procedures. The process was duly photographed and videographed as part of official documentation.
The accused has been given 30 days from the date of publication of the proclamation to surrender before the court. In case of non-compliance, authorities will proceed with further legal action, including attachment of property under Section 83 of the CrPC.
CIK reiterated its commitment to ensuring the presence of absconding accused and conducting thorough investigations in cases involving serious offences.
