Bengaluru, May 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the 45th anniversary celebrations of The Art of Living and the 70th birthday of its founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar at the Art of Living International Center in Bengaluru on May 10.

The event is witnessing participation from over 182 countries, bringing together government representatives, civil society leaders, professionals, students, and international delegates in a large scale celebration of the organisation’s global humanitarian and spiritual outreach.

During the event, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the newly built Dhyan Mandir meditation hall and launch nationwide initiatives focused on mental well being, rural development, environmental conservation, and social transformation.

A global meditation for world peace, led by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, is scheduled for May 13 and will be streamed worldwide.

Founded in 1981, The Art of Living has expanded its presence to 182 countries through volunteer-driven programmes centred on wellness, meditation, Sudarshan Kriya, and sustainable development initiatives.

The month long celebrations will also feature global leadership summits, cultural festivals, policy dialogues, recognition ceremonies for grassroots changemakers, and a prison welfare policy roundtable. A BIMSTEC Youth Leadership Exchange, organised in partnership with the Ministry of External Affairs, has also brought together youth leaders from member nations at the Bengaluru centre.

In his message, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said The Art of Living has helped people act “with awareness, compassion, and rootedness,” adding that the world increasingly looks toward India for answers to anxiety, conflict, and disconnection.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said the organisation’s mission over the past 45 years has been to build “a healthy society with a smile on every face.”
