Mumbai, May 16: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha attended the 9th Maati Samman Samaroh in Mumbai, celebrating the art, culture, cuisine and tourism of Purvanchal. He also felicitated distinguished personalities from the region.
Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor said the historical, cultural and spiritual ties between Purvanchal and Maharashtra are deeply rooted, citing the spiritual traditions associated with Lord Ram’s Vanvas and sacred sites such as Kashi Vishwanath and Trimbakeshwar.
Describing Purvanchal as “not just a region, but a consciousness,” he said it represents spirituality, devotion, art and cultural vibrancy. He also praised the contributions of Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar in restoring and supporting important religious sites including Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Manikarnika Ghat.
LG Sinha further said saints and thinkers from Purvanchal and Maharashtra played a vital role in awakening social consciousness and preserving India’s civilizational values, while urging the younger generation to remain connected to their cultural roots.
