Srinagar: In a landmark academic achievement for Kashmir, Delhi Public School Srinagar alumna Seerat Parvaiz has secured admission to the prestigious MBA programme at Harvard Business School, marking a major milestone for students from the Valley aspiring for global excellence.
Hailing from Konan area of Bandipora, Seerat is the daughter of Peerzada Parvaiz Ahmad Shah and Masrat Jabeen. Alongside Harvard, she has also earned admission offers from London Business School and INSEAD, while awaiting decisions from Stanford Graduate School of Business and MIT Sloan School of Management.
An alumna of Delhi Public School Srinagar, Seerat later pursued Computer Science Engineering at BITS Pilani, graduating with distinction. She subsequently worked as a Product Manager in Dubai, gaining international corporate exposure before excelling in the GMAT examination.
Speaking on her journey, Seerat said DPS Srinagar played a key role in shaping her academic thinking and values. “I hope this shows students that the world is genuinely open to them, wherever they’re starting from. That path from Kashmir can lead anywhere,” she said.
Her parents described the achievement as the result of “belief, purpose and unwavering hard work,” expressing hope that Seerat’s success would inspire students and families across Kashmir to dream beyond limitations.
Principal Shafaq Afshan said Seerat’s accomplishment reflected the school’s commitment to nurturing intellectual independence and global leadership, while Chairman Vijay Dhar termed her journey from Bandipora to Harvard “a powerful message for every young student in Kashmir.”
Seerat’s achievement is being widely seen as an inspiring example of how determination, strong academic foundations and global ambition can help students from the Valley compete at the highest international level.
