Islamabad: Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday congratulated U.S. President Donald Trump for his “extraordinary efforts” toward promoting peace in the region and for holding a “useful and productive” telephone conversation with leaders from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Türkiye, Egypt, the UAE, Jordan and Pakistan.
In a statement, Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan was represented in the call by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, whose “tireless efforts” throughout the peace process were deeply appreciated.
According to the Prime Minister, the discussions provided an important opportunity for participating leaders to exchange views on the prevailing regional situation and explore ways to advance ongoing peace efforts aimed at achieving lasting stability in the region.
Shehbaz Sharif reiterated that Pakistan would continue to play its role in promoting peace with “utmost sincerity” and expressed hope that the next round of talks would be hosted very soon.
