Srinagar: Renowned multilingual author and poet Dr Satish Vimal was felicitated by Union Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth, during a visit to the writer’s residence in Srinagar.
The honour was conferred in recognition of Dr Vimal’s enduring contribution to literature, culture, and intellectual discourse. Praising his commitment to creative and social engagement, the minister noted that Dr Vimal has continued to make significant contributions to literary and cultural life while remaining in the Kashmir Valley through the challenges and transformations of the past three decades.
A distinguished literary figure, Dr Satish Vimal has authored more than 30 books across Hindi, Kashmiri, English, and Urdu, establishing himself as one of the region’s prominent multilingual voices. His extensive body of work, encompassing poetry, prose, and critical writings, has earned him widespread acclaim along with several prestigious literary honours.
During the felicitation ceremony, Seth described Dr Vimal as a writer whose work has enriched the country’s literary landscape and strengthened cultural consciousness. He said recognising authors of such stature is both a privilege and an honour, as their contributions continue to inspire society and preserve the richness of India’s diverse literary traditions.
