Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Javid Ahmad Dar on Monday held a series of interactions with legislators at the Civil Secretariat in Srinagar, reiterating the government’s commitment to responsive governance, grassroots development and effective public service delivery across Jammu and Kashmir.

The meetings provided elected representatives an opportunity to raise constituency-specific concerns and highlight developmental priorities requiring government attention. The exercise reflects the administration’s continued effort to maintain direct engagement with public representatives and ensure that local issues are addressed through coordinated institutional action.

Among those who met the minister were legislators representing different regions of Jammu and Kashmir. Discussions covered a broad range of subjects, including rural infrastructure, public services, agricultural support systems and the status of welfare and development programmes.

Several legislators projected demands related to improving road infrastructure, strengthening civic amenities, enhancing agricultural assistance and expediting ongoing development works. Concerns regarding implementation timelines and delivery of public services were also brought to the minister’s notice.

Dar assured the legislators that all issues raised during the interactions would be examined carefully and forwarded to the concerned departments for appropriate action. He emphasised that elected representatives play a vital role in identifying public needs and helping the government formulate practical solutions to local challenges.

The minister observed that balanced and inclusive development remains a central objective of the administration. He said continuous engagement with legislators is necessary for ensuring that government schemes and welfare programmes effectively reach the people for whom they are intended.

In recent years, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed increased focus on rural development, agriculture and local governance. Programmes aimed at improving infrastructure, strengthening Panchayati Raj institutions and enhancing service delivery have been central to these efforts. Dar noted that sustained coordination between government departments and elected representatives can significantly improve implementation outcomes and public satisfaction.

He further maintained that the government remains committed to accelerating developmental activities and strengthening institutional mechanisms to address public grievances in a timely manner. According to the minister, responsive governance requires continuous dialogue, transparency and accountability at every level of administration.

The interactions also highlighted the importance of constituency-level feedback in shaping development priorities. As elected representatives remain the primary link between citizens and the government, their participation is considered essential in ensuring that developmental interventions address real needs on the ground.
