Jammu and Kashmir Police, acting in coordination with the Revenue Department, have attached immovable properties worth an estimated ₹1.50 crore belonging to three alleged drug peddlers in District Kulgam, marking a significant step under the ongoing 100 Days Campaign against narcotics-linked crime.
The action was executed by Police Station Kulgam under the directions of the Senior Superintendent of Police, Kulgam, and covered three residential houses linked to individuals identified as Ikhlaq Mubarak, son of Mubarak Ahmad Nengroo of Amnoo; Aqib Mubarak Dar of Brazloo; and Showkat Ahmad Rather, son of Wali Mohd Rather of Ashmuji. All three properties were attached in accordance with the relevant provisions of law, following orders from the competent authority.
Officials described the move as part of a sustained strategy to curb unlawful activities by dismantling the financial and infrastructural base that sustains drug trafficking networks in South Kashmir. Rather than limiting enforcement to arrests alone, the Kulgam Police have increasingly turned to attaching proceeds of crime, a tactic aimed at removing the economic incentive behind narcotics peddling and deterring future offenders.
The 100 Days Campaign, under which this action falls, has emerged as one of the more visible law-and-order initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir this year, with district police units across the Union Territory carrying out targeted operations against those involved in drug trade, illegal construction on state land, and other activities deemed prejudicial to public order.
J&K Police reiterated their firm commitment to maintaining peace and upholding the rule of law, stating that stringent legal action will continue against individuals engaged in activities that threaten public order and the security of the Union Territory. Officials indicated that similar property attachment drives are likely to continue across other districts as part of the broader campaign, with the Revenue Department expected to play a continuing role in verifying ownership records and facilitating the legal attachment process.
The Kulgam action adds to a growing list of properties seized this year linked to narcotics offences, reflecting an intensified enforcement posture by the Union Territory administration against the drug trade in South Kashmir.
