National Youth Parliament Winners Felicitated at Kashmir University

Srinagar, July 16: The University of Kashmir on Wednesday felicitated its team and mentor for winning the 17th National Youth Parliament Competition, organised by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of India. The felicitation ceremony, organised by the Department of Students’ Welfare (DSW), was held at Gandhi Bhawan.

The ceremony was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan and attended by Registrar Prof. Naseer Iqbal, Dean Students’ Welfare Prof. Seema Singh, deans, heads of departments, faculty members, students and other dignitaries. The programme began with the traditional Izband Ceremony.

Congratulating the winning team, mentor Dr. Shahid Ali Khan, Coordinator, National Youth Parliament Competition and Cultural Officer, and the DSW, Prof. Nilofer Khan said the victory had brought national recognition to the University. She also announced that students representing the University in national-level competitions and youth leadership programmes would receive academic credit.

Registrar Prof. Naseer Iqbal described the achievement as a matter of pride, while Prof. Seema Singh praised the students and Dr. Shahid Ali Khan for bringing laurels to the University and Jammu & Kashmir.

On the occasion, the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Running Parliamentary Shield and the Champions Parliamentary Shield were presented to the Vice Chancellor. The winning team and Dr. Shahid Ali Khan were also honoured with awards and certificates. Among those present were Prof. Pervez Ahmed, Prof. Shahnaz, Prof. Manzoor Ahmad Malik, Prof. Gawhar Bashir Vakil, Prof. A. R. Rather, and former Dean Students’ Welfare Prof. S. M. A. Afzal Qadri.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Shahid Ali Khan.
